Mario is a fictional character created by Nintendo, primarily known for his appearances in the Mario game franchise.

He is an Italian-American plumber residing in the Mushroom Kingdom, famous for his jumping ability and heroic deeds.

Mario typically battles against Bowser, the King of the Koopas, to rescue Princess Peach and save the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser's evil plans.

His first appearance was in the game Donkey Kong (Nintendo, Game) in 1981, where he was originally known as "Jumpman." He has since become Nintendo's mascot and one of the most recognizable characters in video game history.
